Diastasis Recti Rehabilitation

What is Diastasis Recti?

Here is Mayo Clinic's definition:

"During pregnancy, the growing uterus stretches the muscles in the abdomen. This can cause the two large bands of the muscles that meet in the middle of the abdomen to separate - a condition called diastasis recti."

Most moms with this condition would define it as the post-baby belly that doesn't go away. Depending on the degree of separation, there can also be abdominal pain and even pelvic problems.

As I grew in the pre/post natal world I became aware of this diagnosis and the lack of knowledge around it.  Hence, my 2nd certification of Pre/Post Natal Diastasis and Core Consultant. Through this certification my knowledge of breathing, abdominal pressure, and abdominal engagement totally grew and I've been helping postpartum mommies put their bellies back together.

"Krista spotted my diastasis recti in her core class and from there we set up appointments to help bring my belly back together. She taught me a different way to breath and how to wrap my abdominals to bring more awareness to my core.  I started with a two finger gap and with Krista's help I got to a one finger gap in 3 months!!! My stomach looks way flatter and I have less back pain.  I will be trying for baby #2 and I know that I have the tools to not create that gap again."
